It is not hard to begin asking some troubling questions about what God is up to in our world, especially when we think about the devastation faced by the people of the Philippines right now, or any of the other crises troubling humanity. We are not alone: the scriptural writers pondered much the same questions. This Sunday’s RCL texts have one common theme: that God is asking some very serious questions about us, and requires a radical transformation of human society, starting with those of us who are people of faith. God’s rule begins with us, and the changes to our lives may be profound, if we get serious about our encounter with the Spirit.
