“Friend, I am doing you no wrong.”

This Sunday’s Gospel parable probes our motivation for serving God’s Kingdom. In particular, we are challenged to examine our expectations concerning what God owes us for all our hard work. Do we want our strict deserts, or would we prefer generosity? And if we enjoy God’s friendship and generosity for ourselves. do we begrudge the same for others? What do we gain and what do we lose once we get into comparing ourselves with others, or thinking we are more deserving than them? Getting this aspect of discipleship right is a key to the transformation of our world.
