What will it take to wake us up when we are sleepwalking towards God’s judgement on our comfortable lives? Why do we so easily assume that our present good fortune will last forever, and that it places us under no obligation to assist those who are more needy? How can I enjoy my own sweet life when I am confronted with others in great pain every day? It’s tough to be rich, and maybe you just have to harden up. Or is there another option for God’s people indicated in this Sunday’s gospel reading?
