Earlier today I had to post an excuse for the late arrival of this week’s podcast on the Gospel text, laying the blame somewhere between Telecom and Vodafone. Now here it is!
The text from Luke 9 is challenging in at least two ways. On the one hand, Jesus seems to set the standard for acceptable discipleship impossibly high, given the shared norms of ancient Mediterranean cultures.
