This coming Sunday most Anglican churches in Aotearoa New Zealand are observing Social Services Sunday and preachers are unlikely to pay much attention to the RCL texts, which rather diminishes my motivation for investing the time and effort required to produce a podcast. On the other hand, the gospel reading from Matthew 13 consists of two short but intriguing parables on the theme of growth, and the epistle reading, the last 14 verses of Romans 8, contains some of the most inspiring and memorable expressions of Christian faith ever penned. I do really want to say several things, but my week so far has been too busy, and I am just about to attend the funeral of a friend’s mother. My eventual reflections on these texts may be for posterity, or next time around…
