We live in an a time when many Christians share an intuitive reluctance to talk much about God.
Why has this come about? Some factors spring to mind, in no particular order….
* Secularity: the dominant epistemology serves material values
* Cosmology: the immensity of space and time
* Theodicy: awareness of worldwide suffering and privation
* Human community versus religious particularities
* Cultural and religious debasement of God’s Name
* Fantasy vs. Reality: imagination as escape rather than engagement
